A fundraiser for Girls Incorporated of Jefferson County makes its biennial return this year with some new food venue packages as well as other well-known favorites.

Prior to the actual Foodstock events, organizers invite the community to the Foodstock Preview Party sponsored by Madison Tool, Inc. at the Old Market on Main, 801 W. Main St., on Saturday. The event will give people the opportunity to purchase the several venue packages available while supporting Girls Inc.

Executive Director Susan Stahl said doors open for the preview party at 6:30 p.m., but the sale does not begin until 7 p.m. to allow everyone to check out the packages.

"Some of them are very popular, and people will stand there and buy them all," Stahl said.

While a few of the venues are new this year, other favorites return for buyers. New this year will be a "to-go" picnic basket that purchasers may pick up and take to their favorite picnic spot.

Other packages are standards that have been tweaked a little from previous years, like the international cuisine event. Another new venue will be at Crystal and Jules, but the menu won't be the usual for the restaurant.

"It's not just an order off the menu type of thing," Stahl said.

Many aspects of the event retain the original ideas from Peter Woodburn and Mary Balph, who organized the event in 2006.

"The basic format is the same," Stahl said.

The preview party offers guests time to view all of the venues offered this year. Each venue will have a number and tickets that guests may pick up for purchase. Visitors may pay for all of their purchases with cash, check or credit card at the end of the event.

None of the venue packages will be sold or held for guests prior to the event.

"Our hope is to sell them all that night," Stahl said.

Hor d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available during the Foodstock Preview Party. The party has a suggested admission donation of $15. Visitors may RSVP by calling Stahl at 265-5863 or by email girlsinc@seidata.com.

Venues available for purchase during the 2013 Foodstock Preview Party include the following events. Additional events may be added during the week prior to the party.

SUNSET CRUISE: Enjoy a three-hour cruise on the Ohio River aboard a 50-foot houseboat where the upper deck provides a panoramic view.

The Foodstock venue is $50 per person with a maximum of 16 guests. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 2. Hosted by John Bruns.

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROW!: Learn how to row in beautiful rowing shells on the Ohio River, then satisfy you appetite with a brunch.

The Foodstock venue is $50 per rower up to six rowers and $25 per non-rower. Non-rowing guests or spouses are welcome to watch and eat on the shore. The event begins at 9 a.m. on Aug. 3 in a non-smoking environment. Hosted by Kathy and Charlie Rohlfing and Charlotte and Bob Canida.

SECRETS OF "GODDESSHOOD": You're in for an adventure as you travel by trolley to three Goddess' homes where the culinary secrets of the Goddesshood will be revealed!

The Foodstock venue is $75 per person with up to 25 guests. The event will be hosted from 3 to 6 p.m. on June 2 in a non-smoking environment.

CALLING ALL LOCAVORES*!! (*One Who Eats Locally): Enjoy the bounty of the Ohio River Valley with an evening of cooking, eating and talking about local food. All foods featured during the event has been grown or raised locally.

The Foodstock venue is $60 per person with a maximum of 12 guests. The event takes place Aug. 9 beginning at 7 p.m. in a non-smoking environment. Hosted by Jeff Brautigam, Robyn Ryle and Nick Ellis.

"TO GO" ALL-AMERICAN PICNIC DINNER: Your picnic basket that serves two may be pickup up at the Ohlendorf's home. Pack your blanket or chairs and head to your favorite spot to picnic.

The Foodstock venue is $50 per basket with 20 baskets available. Baskets may be picked up from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, rain or shine. Hosted by Clint and Nancy Bear and Bill and Susan Ohlendorf.

GREAT SCOTT! WHISKY TASTING: Enjoy an evening of Scotch tasting and hors d'oeuvres featuring Scotches from the major regions of Scotland. Scotches include: Auchentoshan, Prime Malt Teaninich - 10 year; Clynelish -14 year; Glen Moray - 12 year; the Arran Malt, Longrow C-V, Kilchoman, Laphroaig Triple Wood and other surprises.

The Foodstock venue is $75 for scotch tasters with up to 15 spaces available and $25 for non-tasters with up to 15 spaces available. The event takes place on Oct. 5 beginning at 7 p.m. Hosted by Matt and Tammi Marshall and Charles Requet III and Elizabeth Auxier.

IRISH EYES ARE SMILING: Come be transported to the Emerald Isle. An evening of learning about the offerings of Ireland, sampling traditional Irish fare and delighting in the duo of Kriss and Greg Ziesmer as they share some Irish ballads.

The Foodstock event is $75 per person up to 12 guests. The event takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 26. Hosted by Dave and Kay Lou Adams, Greg and Kriss Ziesmer, and Gary and Suzan Duckworth of Paradise Cove Catering.

ACME INTERNATIONAL BBQ: Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy internationally famous (and delicious) barbeque and the company of these equally infamous chefs.

The Foodstock venue is $50 per person with a maximum of 16 guests. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 4. Smoking will be allowed in a designated area. Hosted by Pat Stack and Joe Craig.

THE MEDITERRANEAN MEETS MADISON: Experience cuisine from the Mediterranean from the comfort of your table. Guests may call to arrange for seating times and tables. Menu features appetizers from Spain, salad from Greece, main course from Italy and dessert from France.

The Foodstock event is $50 per person with up to 56 guests. The event takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 8 in a non-smoking environment. Hosted by Andy Richmer and Crystal Chase, Scott and Lacey Castor, and Carl and Christi Risk.

"WINE AND DINE" ON THE BLADEN PATIO: Relax on the inviting patio at the Bladen home as you enjoy a gourmet dinner and cocktails. Add a live music performance by the Bladens and friends and you've got the recipe for an unforgettable evening. Dinner will be catered by Paradise Cove catering.

The Foodstock venue is $75 per person with a maximum of 14 guests. The event takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Aug. 25 with smoking permitted outdoors. Hosted by Rusty and Andra Bladen and Gary and Suzan Duckworth.

BRIDGE LUNCHEON: Venue not available for purchase. This venue is hosted by an established group of eight bridge players who purchase tickets and then generously donate the proceeds to Girls Inc.
