Two Scottsburg men were dead from gunshot wounds early Sunday morning at the Scott Villa Mobile Home Trailer Park in Scottsburg.

The first man shot, Larry D. Marlowe, 34, of Allen Street in Scottsburg, was in the area of Lot 21 in the mobile home park. The body of the second man, Michael Brandon Jones, 29, was found inside the trailer on Lot 21 with what police said appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A news release from Indiana State Police said that at about 11:55 p.m. April 13th, Scottsburg City Police went to the mobile home park in the 800 block of West Lake Road after receiving a call from neighbors advising of a disturbance with possible shots fired and a potential gunshot victim.

Just before midnight, police said, a second call was placed to Scott County authorities from a caller who was identified as Jones. Jones said he was the homeowner at Lot 21 and he had just shot a man he said was trying to gain entry into his residence.

Multiple Indiana State Police units arrived and were told by Scottsburg Police that an unidentified male who knocked on the door of the residence had been shot by the homeowner and was dead. Jones had then locked himself in the trailer and was not responding to attempts to contact him. Officers were also informed that witnesses heard a gunshot from within the trailer after Jones had locked himself inside.

The Indiana State Police Emergency Response team entered the trailer and found Jones dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Indiana State Police detectives are the lead officers in this investigation. State police officers were assisted by units from the Scottsburg City Police Department, The Scott County Prosecutor’s Office, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and Scott County EMS.
