The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office welcomed three new road deputies to their ranks Wednesday evening. A crowd of several dozen gathered to watch Circuit Court Judge D.J. Mote lead them through their oaths of office in the Circuit courtroom. Deputies Jordan Perry (center), Curtis Shelpman (left) and Brett White (right) bring mixed experiences. Perry and White have both been with the sheriff’s office — working as part of the county’s jail staff. Shelpman worked as part of the management team at Walmart in Madison and served in the military before that. Road deputies must pass physical and written tests as part of the hiring process. The new road deputies will begin training at the acadmey as early as September. (WKM News photo)
