The search for missing Madison resident Phillip Geyman ended Saturday afternoon, when firefighters from Milton Fire & Rescue discovered his body adrift near Hanover Beach around 3 p.m., according to Madison Police Chief john Wallace.

Geyman had been missing since Tuesday, Aug. 4, at around 6:30 p.m. when he waded into the Ohio River to retrieve a pole he had been using to dislodge debris from the private dock of the Skunk Hollow Yacht

Club in the 600 block of Vaughn Drive.

"We stayed with it as long as we considered there was a chance," Ronald Barnes, fire chief of the Milton Fire & Rescue said on Friday evening, before the last day his department searched for Geyman. "I just hate to give up."

Personnel from the Indiana Conservation Department, the Indiana State Police, the Madison Police Department, as well as Milton Fire & Rescue, all participated in the search.
