Deputies make 10 arrests on Super Bowl Sunday
Courier Staff Report
Thursday, February 7, 2019 2:50 PM
Within a 24 hour period beginning 6 a.m. Sunday, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office arrested 10 individuals on felony drug charges.
Sunday morning, Deputy Cody Low observed suspicious behavior in a vehicle near Country Squire Lakes, said a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Facebook. Low made contact with the three occupants of the vehicle suspected of drug activity. The deputy deployed his K-9 unit, Axel, and received a positive alert. A vehicle search revealed methamphetamine and marijuana.
Three arrests were made: Amanda Webb, 44, of North Vernon, for possession of methamphetamine and on two warrants, on bond for $8,365; Christina Manthei, 43, of North Vernon, for possession of methamphetamine, on bond for $3,155; and Trevor Dilk, 48, of North Vernon, for possession of marijuana, on bond for $3,155.
Around nine hours later, the sheriff’s office received a domestic disturbance call in the area of Indiana 7, just north of Scipio. Low responded to the area where he located and identified the subject, Dwayne Ferguson, who had an active warrant. Ferguson fought with the deputies on site, said a news release. Once in custody, further investigation found syringes in the man’s vehicle. Officers also discovered that Ferguson had left his 14-year-old child home alone, and the Department of Child Services placed the child with a family member. Police arrested Ferguson on the existing warrant, for resisting law enforcement, possession of a syringe, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and neglect of a dependent.
At around 6 p.m., deputies reported to a call about suspicious activity from Muscatatuck County Park involving four males in a black Jeep. Four deputies made contact with the individuals, and, suspicious of illegal activity, deployed a K-9 unit. A firearm and approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and packaging material were discovered in the search. Four were arrested: Glenn Bordelon, 47, of Madison, for possession of methamphetamine, on bond for $10,055; Logan Ashpaugh, 22, of Westport, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm without a permit, on bond for $10,055; Michael Bowen, 30, of Madison, for possession of methamphetamine, on bond for $20,110; and Jarod Schwacke, 26, of North Vernon, for possession of methamphetamine, on bond for $20,110.
And on Monday, around 5:45 a.m., a deputy and a reserve deputy contacted two suspicious individuals walking in the 9200 block of North Indiana 7. A search of the individuals revealed syringes and several pills that are commonly abused opiates. The deputies arrested Tumara Burton-Baker, 30, of North Vernon, for trafficking with an inmate, possession of a syringe and a controlled substance, on bond for $1,055; and Michael Goodin, 27, of Columbus, for possession of a syringe and a controlled substance, on bond for $1,055.
