Former Jefferson County Councilman Gary Armbrecht, 67, of Madison died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. After retiring from an almost 40-year career with the Indiana State Board of Accounts, he was elected to serve as a member of the Jefferson County Council in 2014.

Joe Craig, a member of the County Council who served with Armbrecht, said Armbrecht’s career experience provided him a wealth of knowledge from the state’s point of view.

“He dedicated a lot of his retired time to the council…” Craig said, explaining that he was often balancing budgets and doing behind-the-scenes work to ensure the council would have the information it needed and be on the right path to complete projects.

“He will be missed…,” Craig said. “It’s a big loss for Jefferson County and the County Council.”

Armbrecht served from 2015 until the end of last year. He did not seek re-election in November 2018.
