Vine Street between Main and Third streets was closed briefly Friday morning after a car struck a gas regulator. An unidentified driver was trying to back into a parking spot on the west side of Vine Street outside the Little Golden Fox when the regulator was hit, said Bill DeVries, Madison’s fire chief. DeVries said the regulator was damaged but first responders were able to quickly shut off the gas. The Vectren employee who responded was able to make necessary repairs using equipment he carries in his truck. (Staff photo by Tali Hunt/thunt@madisoncourier.com)
