The Jefferson County Clerk’s office welcomed its first voters to their satellite voting location on the hilltop Friday morning. Martha Jane Schimfessel (right), a poll worker, helped downtown residents (left) Paul and Betty Konkle (center) get checked in to cast their ballots for the May 2019 Primary election at the Jefferson County Health Department on Green Road. This is the first election Jefferson County has offered satellite voting. The satellite polls are open to every voter in the county no matter where their Election Day polling location is. Poll workers will be set up for early voting at the health department on Green Road again on April 26 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Satellite voting will be open at the Hanover Park Building on April 18 and May 3 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Voters can also cast absentee ballots by mail and at the Jefferson County Courthouse: April 15-18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; April 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; April 29-May 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to noon.
