A group that gave the name Honorable Sacred Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has reserved Jaycee Park on Vaughn Drive for a rally and cookout Saturday, Sept. 1.

The Madison Parks Department confirmed the group plans to be in the park from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Rockin’ on the River car show featuring live music all day will go on as scheduled on Vaughn Drive. The footprints of the two events do not overlap.

The Madison Police Department will be working with the group and the parks department to create a safety plan for the event, said Andrew Forrester, head of community relations for the city.

A group called Knights of the Ku Klux Klan was the last group to have an organized rally in Madison. That group was along the riverfront on May 27, 2017. It is unclear at this time if the Honorable Sacred Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has any connection to the previous group or where the group scheduled for Sept.1 is from.
