Police arrested a Madison man last week after an investigation that began in December 2018 and included controlled purchases of methamphetamine and a weapon.

Marvin W. Samuels, 42, faces charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; dealing methamphetamine, a Level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony; and possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.

The investigation began after Madison Police Department Senior Patrolman Aaron Watson received information that Samuels is “a source of methamphetamine in Jefferson County,” said a news release from the department. Detectives Ricky Harris and Kyle Cutshaw worked with Watson to conduct controlled purchases of the illegal substance from Samuels. During one of the controlled purchases, a gun also was purchased from Samuels. Officers were able to purchase three grams of methamphetamine from Samuels and a .22 caliber rifle on March 10, said the probable cause affidavit.

Officers served the arrest warrant from the Jefferson County Circuit Court, which set a bond of $50,000 cash-only. Samuels is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.
