Speed and alcoholic beverages are believed to be factors in the crash that killed the driver Friday night in a single-vehicle accident on Indiana 350 near Indiana 129 in Ripley County.

The investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are pending, said a news release from the Indiana State Police.

Trooper Korry Clark of the ISP-Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team indicated that a gray 2003 Ford sedan driven by Jesse Norman, 38, of Batesville was traveling eastbound on Indiana 350 and left the roadway for an unknown reason, said a news release from ISP. Norman’s vehicle left the north side of the roadway before hitting a concrete culvert and overturning before coming to a stop. He suffered fatal injuries and was dead at the scene.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Ripley County Fire and EMS and Ripley County Coroner’s office responded to the accident.
