Most county offices in the Jefferson County Courthouse will continue to be open by appointment-only during Stage 3 of the Back on Track plan to reopen Indiana that began Friday, according to a release from the county.

The only services open for walk-in appointments are court services, the Jefferson County Health Department and early voting at the courthouse starting on Tuesday for the June 2 primary election.

Other offices, including the county’s assessor, auditor, circuit court, clerk, commissioner, probation, prosecutor, Purdue extension, recorder, soil and water, superior court, surveyor, treasurer and veterans service offices will remain by appointment-only during Stage 3, which is scheduled to run through June 13.

Only two people are allowed inside at a time for court services, which individuals can reach by calling 812-274-3940. The waiting area of the health department will remain closed and visitors may be asked to wait outside until the office is clear of people. Residents voting early at the courthouse may be asked to do the same if the area gets congested.

The county encourages visitors to wear a mask when entering facilities for services, according to the release.
