Madison Regatta Inc. has reached the stretch run and with just two days left before the first festival event, all systems are go for the 63rd running of the Indiana Governor's Cup.

Committee chairpersons reported no problems during the final membership meeting before race week, which was held Wednesday at the VFW Post 1969 on Madison's hilltop.

"We're down to crunch-time. The next week and a half is going to be a tough one," Regatta President Kim Washer told the members. "Let's pitch in and help each other out over the next few days to get this thing done."

One announcement that the Regatta did have involved tarp spaces along the riverfront. The City of Madison plans on doing its final mow of the area Monday and no tarps may be staked out before then. If mowing crews encounter tarps, they will simply throw them away.

In addition, tarp areas in front of the Regatta office just east of the judges stand cannot be staked out until Wednesday.

The Regatta also announced that two event hospitality tents were still available just near the pit area. If interested, contact the Regatta office at (812) 274-0400.

The first Regatta events will be on Saturday with the running of the radio-controlled boats on Krueger Lake on the former Jefferson Proving Grounds and the Little Miss, Miss Preteen and Miss Teen pageants which will be held at Madison Consolidated High School.
