Lt. Vinal and Capt. Brenna Lee were named distinguished citizens Tuesday by the City of Madison for their service in the Madison and Jefferson County communities. Madison Mayor Damon Welch gave the Lees a placque in appreciation. The Lees were appointed to the Madison Salvation Army in June 2015. They announced in early May that they were being reassigned to the Salvation Army Indianapolis-Fountain Square Corps (Church). Capt. Lee has also received an additional appointment as the Indiana Division’s Intercultural Ministries Coordinator. Lt. Lee said this week they would be forever grateful for their time in Madison and they weren’t expecting to be honored when they asked to come speak and say goodbye at Tuesday’s regular city council meeting. Lieutenants Justin and Stephanie Hartley will be taking over the Madison Salvation Army at the end of the month. They are moving from Clinton, Iowa, with their three boys Landon, 6, Noah, 3, and Asher, 13 months. The Lee’s Farewell Sunday will be June 23, and the Hartley’s Welcome Sunday will be June 30.
