Brian Lee

Brian Michael Lee, 55, of Madison, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

He was born May 15, 1958, in Madison, to James A. and Ruth Joanne Lewis Lee. He attended grade school in both Madison and Indianapolis before graduating from Brebeuf Jesuit High School in 1976. He began his career at North American Stainless in Feb. 1992. He enjoyed nature, especially caring for his lawn, hiking in Clifty Falls State Park, sitting around the campfire with his family or vacationing at the beach. He also enjoyed playing tennis, biking and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Smitha Lee, whom he married May 9, 1991; three daughters, Jennifer Lynn Hall of Louisville, Ky., and Catherine Ann Lee and Rachel Lindsay Lee, both of Madison; his father of Madison; four brothers, Mark Lee of Washington, D.C., Larry Lee of Lexington, and Kevin Lee and Paul Lee, both of Madison; two sisters, Nancy Strange of Madison and Karen Wagner of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; one infant sister, Katherine Elizabeth Lee; and his grandmother, Lone G. Fordyce.

A celebration of life service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Clifty Falls State Park. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

David Marshall, 65, of Deputy, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at his residence.

Sammie Roberts

Sammie Searcy Roberts, 87 of Madison, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Diversacare of Seneca Place in Louisville, Ky.

He was born April 27, 1926, in Bethlehem, to Fred and Myrtle Searcy Roberts. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the Jefferson Proving Grounds where he served as a munitions proof director. He served on the Board of Realtors with Century 21 and was a farmer in the Dupont and Hanover areas. He was also an elder at the North Madison Church of Christ.

He is survived by one daughter, Elaine Gabhart of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Fred Roberts of Athens, Ala.; one sister, Corinne Barton of New Castle, Ky.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bernice Cleo Lyons Roberts; one daughter, Brenda Darlene Roberts; his parents; one brother, J.D. Roberts; and one sister, Juanita Mahoney.

The funeral was scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville, Ky. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery.
