Bobby Gabbard

Bobby Joe Gabbard, 34, of Sunman, Indiana, formerly of Moorefield, Indiana, died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, in Ripley County.

He was born Nov. 21, 1984, in Cincinnati, to Martha Theresa “Marty” Dirkhising Harnishfeger. He was raised in Brookville, Indiana, where he was a 2004 graduate of the Brookville High School and served in U.S. Army. On Oct. 9, 2010, he married Keli Jean Hall, and they had one daughter, Kassidy Jean Gabbard. He was a former carpenter and truck driver for E&E Maple Leaf Construction in Pleasant, Indiana. He had worked in maintenance since January 2019 for the Madison Correctional Facility. He was a former member of Moorefield Community Fire Department and the Switzerland Lodge No. 122 F&AM. He was a volunteer for Switzerland County Emergency Response Unit. He was a wonderful father and loved helping others and lending a hand. He will be remembered for his love of singing, fishing, cooking and carpentry.

He is survived by one daughter, Kassidy Jean Gabbard of Moorefield; his mother of Sunman; one twin sister, Theresa Parker of Williamsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Lisa McGuire and Amanda Clegg, both of Batesville; two brothers, Eric Harnishfeger of Saint Mary’s, Indiana, and Andrew Harnishfeger of Brookville, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be at at 7 p.m. Monday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, Indiana.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Doris Hubbs

Doris Lee Hubbs, 95, of Hanover, Indiana, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Hanover Health and Rehab in Hanover.

She was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Audley and Letha Harless Hensley.

She moved to Madison in 1951. She was a nurse for the King’s Daughters’ Hospital and retired after many years from the Madison State Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Madison, the Madison-Jefferson County Senior Citizens, and Red Hat Society. She was also a longtime member and volunteer at RSVP in Madison, and a member of numerous doll and quilting clubs. She was an avid quilter, doll maker and seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting hats with the Senior Citizens for newborns for the King’s Daughters’ Hospital. Her retirement years were spent enjoying her family, traveling, and volunteering for the many organizations she loved.

She is survived by one son, Larry, of Dubois, Indiana; two daughters, Nadja Keech, of Hanover, and Debbie Powell, of Flower Mound, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry B. Hubbs; three brothers: Richard Hensley, Harold Hensley and Wink Hensley; two sisters: Ann Ubri and Dorothy Wilson; one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, with interment to follow

Visitation will be at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Marilyn Hunt

Marilyn Hunt, 62, of Madison died Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.

Hubert Michael

Hubert Jackson Michael, 78, of Versailles, Indiana, died Tuesday April 23, 2019.

He was born June 27, 1940, in Seven Mile, Ohio, to Hubert Russell and Florence Gualt Michael. He was a strong Christian, always willing to help people around him. He donated his labor and built churches that he attended. He was a bricklayer for a brick mason and an engineer. He always encouraged his children and grandchildren to follow the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Iretta Howard Michael; his children, Hubert Matthew Michael of Batesville, Indiana, Jacqueline Denny of Versailles, Laura Evans of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Rhonda Pennington of Canaan, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Steve Michael, Norman Michael, Dean Michael, Danny Michael and Sue Hileman.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, Indiana. Burial will follow in Shelby Christian Cemetery in Versailles.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
