Randy Davis Sr.

William Randolph “Randy” Davis Sr., 80, of Seymour, Indiana, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Anderson, Indiana, to William H. Davis and Marjorie Nolan Davis. He was an instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for 30 years, a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He attended St. Paul Episcopal Church in Columbus, Indiana, and enjoyed woodworking, cars, movies, gun cleaning and gun collecting. He had a passion for training police officers — he taught physical tactics and firearms training — and even after his retirement conducted sniper schools.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Hallgarth of Madison, Indiana; a son, Greg Davis of Avon, Indiana; two sisters, Diane Macquire and Kimberly Cannon and a brother, Doug Davis, all of Anderson, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rod Davis and Mac Davis; and a son, William Randolph Davis II.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Services will be live-streamed on Woodlawn’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend.

A second memorial service will be held at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, Indiana, at 11a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020.

Anna Mullins

Anna Jewell Muse Mullins, 88, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

She was born May 17, 1932, at Muses Mills, Kentucky, to William Henry Muse and Lilly Mae Clark Muse. She grew up in Muses Mills and attended school there. She married Everett Mullins in 1946 and they had two sons. Early in life she worked at Gayle Creamer’s store in Muses Mills, then at U. S. Shoe and Randall’s in Flemingsburg, Kentucky and Johnny Sorrell’s store in Poplar Plains, Kentucky. She did housekeeping for the Conway family in Hillsboro, Kentucky, and then worked for Ken’s Pic Pac and Sorrell’s Restaurant, both in Flemingsburg. Later in life she owned rental property in Bedford, Kentucky.

She was also a farmer and a farmer’s wife, working alongside her husband milking cows and setting tobacco and rising before daylight to make pies, cakes and meals for the farm hands. She cared for her husband after he became a double amputee and began dialysis and kept her mother in her home for several years while helping run the farm.

She is survived by a son, Mark Lane Mullins of Bedford; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a niece and nephew and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years; a son, Rocky Mullins; a brother, Stanley Colgan; a sister, Henrietta Hinton; and other family members.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with burial in Fleming County Cemetery in Flemingsburg. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
