Rev. Buford Barnes

The Rev. Buford Barnes, 79, of Knoxville, Tennessee and formerly of Milton, Kentucky, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 there.

He was born May 14, 1940 to Marvin and Nadine Barnes of Milton and was a pastor and evangelist for many year, traveling in many states with his family. Later in life he settled in Knoxville and retired from Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center after 20 years of service.

Survivors include sons Kevin Barnes and Vance Barnes, both of Knoxville; brother Leon Barnes of Milton; sisters Doretha Brindley and Virginia White, both of Milton; and four grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Wanda Barnes, on Dec. 3, 2017; and brothers Norman, Norvel and Kline Barnes.

A graveside service was held Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Baptist Memorial Cemetery in Robbins, Tennessee.

Terry Dutton

Terry Eugene Dutton, 70, of Aurora, Indiana, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 in Cincinnati at the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born May 7, 1949, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Orlan and Vivian Farrar Dutton. He entered the U.S. Marines in 1968 and was discharged in 1970 into the reserves after achieving the rate of corporal and being awarded the Purple Heart. He worked as a diesel mechanic and enjoyed tinkering on his truck and boat and could fix anything. He was a member of the VFW in Winnimac, Indiana, the Indiana Democratic Party and enjoyed fishing

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Diana Phelps, of Aurora; daughters Jennifer Hannah of Seattle, Melissa Payne of Okeana, Ohio, Jessica Russell of Franklin, Ohio, and Aundrea Duncan of Cincinnati; a sister Donna Larson, of Nevada, Wisconsin; a brother, Larry Dutton, of Gary, Indiana; and12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service on Madison’s hilltop with interment at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from noon until time of service.

Charlie Sandlin

Charlie Sandlin, 73, of Worthville, KY, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at this home in Worthville.

He was born June 18, 1946 in Owsley County, Kentucky, to Andy and Gertrude Couch Sandlin. The last several years he had worked on a private farm and also had worked at the former Kentucky Ladder Plant in Carrollton in the Production Department. In his spare time he enjoyed sightseeing, fishing and hunting and collecting ginseng. He was a member of the Monterey Baptist Church in Monterey, Kentucky.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Wilson of Worthville; three sons, Charles Jr. Sandlin of Ghent, Kentucky, Donnie Sandlin of Hanover, Indiana, and Richard Sandlin of Worthville; a brother; Fred Sandlin of Manchester, Kentucky; and four grandchildren and a great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred Alice Burford Sandlin, on July 7, 2017.

Funeral Services will be 1 p.n. Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the English Cemetery in Carrollton.
