Mildred Fewell

Mildred “Millie” Ellen Wyne Fewell, 91, of Madison, Indiana, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019 at the Hickory Creek Healthcare of Madison. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.

Joan Hall

Joan Mary Schramm Hall, 94, of Madison, Indiana, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville.

She was born Nov. 18, 1925 in Michigan City, Indiana, to Charles and Ann Rohlof Schramm. She was raised in Hammond, Indiana, and was a graduate of Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond in 1943. She earned her registered nurse degree in 1946 from St. Margaret Nursing School in Hammond, moved to Marion, Indiana, in 1946 to work at GM Fisher Body Dana Corporation as their nurse. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion for 16 years before moving to Madison in 1971 and working at the Madison State Hospital as a registered nurse for six years.

She was on the board of directors of the family business, Hall’s Laundry, since 1975, and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary in Marion, the Catholic Nurses in Hammond where she had also served as president, the St. Margaret Alumni Association, a sorority in Hammond, the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524, St. Mary’s Women’s Club and was a founding member of Friends of Shawe and Pope John, Knights of Columbus, the Civil War Round Table and the Shawe Booster Club. She enjoyed raising her family, playing golf, watching basketball and Notre Dame Football and watching her grandchildren participate in sports.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas C. Hall of Gilbert, Arizona and Christopher James Hall and Matthew Stephen Hall, both of Madison; a daughter, Leslie Joan Kucek of Oregonia, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Phillip “Phil” Lowell Hall, in February 2008; a son, Phillip “Chuck” Charles Hall in an Aug. 6 1986 airplane crash; a sister, Charlene LaVelle; and a brother, Charles Robert Schramm.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in downtown Madison. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery on Madison’s hilltop. Friends may visit 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Irene Ritter

Irene Mary Traylor Ritter, 92, of Madison, Indiana, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January. 4, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in downtown Madison. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Visitation is 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 and 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday Jan. 4 at the funeral home. Graveside ceremony is 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison.
