Geraldine Banta

Geraldine Lock Banta, 86, of Vevay, Indiana, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at the Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

She was born July 27, 1933 in Switzerland County, Indiana, to Ernie and Dorothy Marcella Roeder Lock. She was raised all over Indiana because her father was a teacher but attended Vevay High School. She was a member of the Long Run Baptist Church, was employed for 23 years by the US Shoe Factory in Vevay until 1974, for one year by the Versailles Extension Office and three years by the Census Bureau and then started farming with her husband. She was a former member of the Moorefield Homemakers Club and served on the Farm Bureau Board for several years. She enjoyed mowing her lawn, crafting and gardening and will be remembered for her raspberry jelly.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kay Ketenbrink of Rising Sun, Indiana; a sister, Joann Arnett of Rockford, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Andrea Jo Ketenbrink, Heather Thomas and John Ketenbrink; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Everett Ray “Dutch” Banta, on April 20, 2008.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery there. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pamela Stewart

Pamela J. Stewart, 70, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at Hickory Creek Healthcare of Madison in Madison, Indiana.

She was born Jan. 19, 1949 in Madison, to Thomas Clarence and Mary Loretta Gordon Stewart. She was raised in Trimble County, attended school there and was raised in the Mount Byrd Christian Church in Milton, Kentucky. She attended certified nursing assistant training and received her certification and worked as a CNA for Bedford Nursing Home and the River Valley Living Center for several years. She was always helping others, especially those less fortunate than herself, and had worked with Tri County Council for Senior Citizens. She retired from Evans Construction working at L.G.&E. in the janitorial services department. She loved music, being with her dog, Gizmo, and was a great collector of things. She was a devoted mom, loving mama and sister.

Survivors include sons, Ronnie Scroggins of Carrollton, David Scroggins of Milton and Darren Scroggins of Hanover, Indiana; daughters, Monica McDowell and Amanda McDowell, both of Carrollton; sisters, Mary Jane Center of Milton, Lillian Aldridge of Bedford, Judy Cole of Madison, and Jenny Henry of Bedford; a brother, Mike Stewart of Milton; and six grandchildren; three step grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Rodney Stewart, Thomas Stewart, Paul Stewart and Tony Stewart, and two infant siblings.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Milton. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
