Shawn Patrick Brabant, 44, of near Moorefield, Indiana, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at his home.

Eileen Elliott

Eileen Nancy MacRae Elliott, 74, of North Vernon, Indiana, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Hosparus Inpatient Unit in Louisville.

She was born Dec. 4, 1944, in Taylor, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Stanley and Anna Mesko MacRae. Her father died when she was young so she was raised by her stepfather, Leo Pintha. She graduated high school and attended college for three years. She entered the U.S. Air Force March 11, 1965, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and attained the rate of basic airman during the Vietnam Era. She rose to the rank of Airman Third Class serving in the 807th Medical Group at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. She was honorably discharged Dec. 23, 1966 at Riverside, California. She was first married to Snowden Edgar Mathews and they had three sons, Snowden E. Jr., Jeffrey E. and Jason E. and one daughter, Amy Elise. She later married Robert C. Elliott Sr. May 29, 1999. She had lived near North Vernon since 2004. She had been a paralegal for years in California. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Vernon. She dearly loved her family, traveling and her church work.

She is survived by three sons, Snowden E. Mathews Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jeffrey E. Mathews of North Vernon and Jason E. Mathews of Denver, Colorado; two stepdaughters, Julie Elliott of Sacramento, California, Charmaine Roland of Pinon Hills, California; three sisters, Barbara Johnson of North Hollywood, California, Mary Ann Smeltzer of Moon Twp., Pennsylvania, and Marguerite “Margie” Merenda of Groton, Connecticut; one brother, Donald MacRae of Duryea, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Elliott Sr., who died Oct. 23, 2001; her parents; her stepfather, Leo Pintha who raised her; one brother, Raymond Pintha, who died in 1987; one daughter, Amy Elise Mathews, who died in 1972; and one stepson, Robert C. Elliott, Jr.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Satruday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will follow in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service.

A final salute will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion with full military honors to follow at the cemetery chapel.
