Steve Meadows

Steve Meadows, 74, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

He was born April 25, 1945, in English, Kentucky, to Bennie and Ruby Patton Meadows. After graduation from Carroll County High School in 1963, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1967. He was retired from the Carroll County Road Department and had also worked for the Carroll County Ambulance Service for a total of 38 years. He served several years as Carroll County Deputy Coroner under former Coroner James B. Dunn. After his retirement he enjoyed mowing grass, weed-eating and leaf blowing. He was one of the founding members of the “Asphalt Angels Car Club” in Milton, Kentucky, and a member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vi McCourt Meadows of Carrollton; two sons, Steve Meadows and Scott Meadows of Carrollton; a sister, Sharon Sue Hartman of Carrollton, and five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ronnie and Bennie Wayne Meadows, and a sister, Oueda Jane Patton.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the worship center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.

Bonnie Stockdale

Bonnie Jean McKeand Stockdale, 84, of Greenville, Indiana, died on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at the Baptist Health-Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.

She was born Jan. 4, 1936, in Hanover, Indiana, to Ernest Van Sr. and Pearl M. Sparks McKeand. She was raised in Hanover and was a 1955 graduate of Saluda High School. She worked early in life for Scott’s Five and Dime Store, Ace Hardware, and BMP Auto and for a time for her brother Danny. She was a member of the Hanover United Methodist Church and the Pilot Club. She loved watching basketball games on television as well as other sports and crocheting. Her favorite teams were the Louisville Cardinals and the Purdue Boilermakers.

Surviors include her sons, Larry Stockdale of Owensboro, Kentucky, Tommy Stockdale of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and Dennis Stockdale of Greenville; her brother, Danny McKean of Madison, Indiana; and 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Le Roy Stockdale in 2011; a sister, Cora Ann Wiley in 2002; a brother, Ernest Van McKeand Jr. in 1990; a granddaughter, Amanda Stockdale Walker in 2006, and a nephew, Jocko Wiley Jr. on Aug. 10, 2019.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Chelsea, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
