Joyce F. Chance LaMothe, 79, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.

Norma Lloyd

Norma Lloyd, 98, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at the Signature Healthcare of Trimble County in Bedford, Kentucky.

She was born July 17, 1921 in Ghent, Kentucky, to William Ruben Owen and Aggie Mae Beard Owen. She had retired from the former Teledyne-Wirz Tube Factory and C.C.L. Container in Carrollton in the production department. She had been a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill American Legion Post No. 9 Ladies Auxilliary in Madison, Indiana, and the former Ghent Christian Church in Ghent.

She is survived by a daughter, Norma Dutcher of Logansport, Indiana; four grandchildren, Kimla Russell, Angela Dalton, Dereck Mershall and Tyler Dutcher; four great grandchildren, Tanner Kidwell, Davee Marksberry, Caleb Mershall and Dilyn Dutcher; two great-great grandchildren, Bryston Marksberry and Eli Mershall; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Jessie Lee Sieler, Virginia Bradley and Leta Mae Perkins; four brothers, Frank Owen, William Owen, Bernard Owen and Adrian Owen; a granddaughter; Cynthia Ray; and two great grandchildren, Seth E. Mershall and Danielle D. Russell.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent.

Margaret Sparks

Margaret Owens Sparks, 94, of McDonough, Georgia and formerly of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at the Fulton Center for Rehab in Atlanta.

She was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to Reuben Woods and Sophia Barrett Owens. She was raised in Elizabethtown and attended school there. After marrying she resided in Dayton, Ohio, from 1946 to 1962 when she moved to Madison. She worked 27 years for Reliance Electric Company in Madison, retiring in 1990. She also worked for the Jefferson County Health Department for several years, was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church near Madison and a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend who enjoyed arts and crafts and helping the elderly.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jeannie Tague of Madison; sons David E. Sparks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Gregory Scott Sparks of McDonough; a brother, Bill Owens of Danville, Indiana; a special nephew and niece, Steve and Beverly Goodman of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several other nieces, nephews and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years, Edwin Sparks, in September 1975; her daughter, Sharon Y. Sparks, in 1959; her brothers, Arthur Owens, Dr. Fred Owens, Joe Owens, Howard Owens, Reuben Owens, Curtis Owens and Robert Owens; and her sisters, Betty Carter, Frankie Smith, Dessie Lobb and Jeannette Owens.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Willow View Cemetery in Dayton. Friends may visit Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
