Robert Middleton

Robert D. “Bob” Middleton, 89, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

He was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Lexington, Indiana, to Dewey Francis Middleton and Eva P. Hall Middleton. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1948, was a retired maintenance superintendent for Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation in Madison, Indiana, where he worked for 39 years. He was a member of the Scottsburg Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and volunteered at the Lexington Historical Society for many years. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Sue Owen Middleton; two sons, Jeff Middleton of Francisco, Indiana and Mark Middleton of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Carla Scales, Jill Lyman, Craig Middleton and James Middleton; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Lou Barnard and Norma Jean Hall.

Funeral service is noon Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Interment will be in Lexington Cemetery there. Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Janet Moore

Janet Elaine Michaletz Moore, 79, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.

She was born Oct. 21, 1940, in Kewaunee, Wisconsin, to Frank Edward Jr. and Linda Schmidt Michaletz. She was raised in Kewaunee County, grew up in the Algoma Lutheran Church and graduated from high school in 1959. She moved to Madison in 1979 from Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and was employed with Madison State Hospital as an attendant for 23 years. She shared a companionship with William “Bill” Charles Moore since the 1980s and they were married June 6, 2002 in Carrollton, Kentucky. After retiring she worked as a greeter at Madison Walmart for 10 years, enjoyed her animals, loved gardening, shopping and raising flowers.

Survivors include her husband; her sons, Randall Jacquart of Seattle and Terry Jacquart of Madison; a daughter, Michelle Vessel of Deputy, Indiana; her brothers, Lee Michaletz of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Gene Michaletz of Kewaunee; and six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Mildred Thomas

Mildred June Paugh Vayhinger Thomas, 99, of Madison, Indiana, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.



Gertrude Voris

Gertrude Hughes Voris, 76, of Vevay, Indiana, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

She was born May 2, 1943, in Trimble County, Kentucky, to Theodore J. “Ted” and Mary Jo Meadows Hughes. She was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1961 graduate of Vevay High School. She attended classes at Ivy Tech in Madison, Indiana, to become a book keeper. She was employed by US Shoe Factory in Vevay for 38 years, employed by Dorman Products in Warsaw, Kentucky, for 10 years, and worked as a dishwasher for Dan’s Marina Restaurant in Warsaw. Gertrude was a member of Cross Plains Church of Christ in Cross Plains, Indiana, and resided all of her life in the Switzerland County community. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Survivors include her sons, Glenn Voris of East Enterprise, Indiana and Michael Voris of Versailles, Indiana; her daughters, Mary Skagg of Vevay and Kelly Fitzner of Appomattox, Virginia; her brothers, Wayne Hughes of Rising Sun, Indiana and Nathan Hughes of Vevay; her sisters, Margaret Stegemiller of Rising Sun and Mildred Fleek of North Vernon, Indiana; and 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her parents; by her husband of 50 years, Donald William Voris, in December 2012; and a brother, Ralph Hughes, in April 2003.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at the Cross Plains Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery at Cross Plains. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
