Virginia Clarkson-Mason

Virginia Colleen Clarkson-Mason, 89, of North Vernon, died Friday, July 26, 2019, at Majestic Health Care in North Vernon, Indiana.

She was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Ukiah, California, to Stanley and Nellie Lownes Olmstead. She was a graduate of Madison High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Jacksonville Real Estate in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church and a former member of North Vernon Chapter #183, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, and bingo. She loved playing cards, especially euchre, and was an avid sports fan.

She is survived by one son, Stanley Ray Clarkson of North Vernon; two daughters, Neysa Cumberworth of North Vernon and Colleen Gatewood of Westport; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and five-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; Francis Clarkson, her second husband, Ronald C. “Skip” Mason Sr., and one daughter, Belinda Clarkson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
