Michelle Jeanette Kulesza Gavelek, 55, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, Indiana.

Charles Hand

Charles Edwin Hand, 96, of Dupont, Indiana, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. Arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, Indiana.

Phyllis Smith 

Phyllis Magalene Hinds McQueary Smith, 72, of Milton, Kentucky, died Sunday, July 21, 2019, in Milton. 

She was born JuMichelle Gavelek ne 21, 1947, in Jamestown, Tennessee, to William and Ruby Duncan Hinds.  She grew up in Jamestown and attended school there. She married Bill McQueary in 1965. She moved to Milton in 1970 and enjoyed being a homemaker and volunteering at the Salvation Army and the American Legion. She worked early in life for Madison Plastics in Madison, Indiana, for several years. She married Herman Leslie Smith in 2015, and they enjoyed their time together until his death in 2017.  She was a member of Milton United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing games on her computer, singing karaoke, loved music and being with her family and friends. 

She is survived by one son, William Gus McQueary of Milton; three brothers, Wayne Hinds of Dayton, Ohio, Doug Hinds of Arizona, and Ed Hinds of Jamestown, Tennessee; three sisters, Vella Brown of Bellbrook, Ohio, Lola Flowers of Jamestown, Tennessee, and Connie Cravens of Arizona; one grandson, William David McQueary of Milton; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Leslie Smith, one son, Billy Joe McQueary; two brothers, William and James Hinds, and one sister, Edith Greive.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 29, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.  Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. 

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Phyllis McQueary Smith Remembrance Fund.  Cards are available at the funeral homes.

Tyler Warren

Tyler Christian Warren, 49, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 7, 1970, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Carl Warren and Nadine Wilber Warren Frazier. He was a General Motors Mechanic, worked for Albright Motor Company in Lawrenceville, Illinois, as a service manager, and was an operator for a local union out of Indiana. Later he owned and operated Warren’s Recreation in Madison, Indiana, before his second battle with cancer. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville. He enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles, and restoring automobiles. He worked on Relay for Life.

He is survived by his mother; three sisters: Margaret Summers of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Carla Kelly of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Trudie Tillotson of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service.

Burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery at a later date.

Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville is in charge of the arrangements.

Mark White

Mark Allen White, 59, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his home in Bedford.

He was born Dec. 26, 1959, to William E. “Bill” White Sr. and Wanda R. McClellan White. He was employed by Parts Unlimited Interiors in La Grange, Kentucky, as a department supervisor. He was a very active member before his health declined of Calvary Full Gospel Church in Prestonville and had helped coordinate food ministries with the church. He had been an active member of the Westside Volunteer Fire Department in Prestonville for many years. He had served in the Indiana National Guard for several years. He loved to help people fix automobiles when asked and always enjoyed doing it.

He is survived by his companion, Brenda Tucker of Bedford; his daughter, Taylor White of Ghent, Kentucky; four brothers, Jack White of Dayton, Ohio, Donnie White of Pleasant, Indiana, Wayne White of East Enterprise, Indiana, and Rocky White Sr. of Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christopher White; two brothers, William “Bud” White and Rocky Steven White Jr., and a infant sister, Brenda White.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, 2019, at noon at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Kentucky.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Calvary Full Gospel Church in care of the funeral home.
