Rachel Burdette

Rachel Darnell Smith Burdette, 68, of Madison died Friday, June 14, 2019, in Madison, Indiana.

She was born June 7, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Jesse and Dorothy Murphy Smith. She grew up in Nashville and later in New Albany, Indiana, where she graduated from high school. She was married to Ledie Babbitt and they had four children. She later married James Franklin Burdette. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother all her life. She lived in the Elizabeth community for 20 years and in Madison the past year. She was a member of Freedom Church in Elizabeth. She enjoyed being a grandma, cooking, going to yard sales, playing Bingo and listening to Willie Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, James Franklin Burdette of Madison; two sons, Ledie Royce Babbitt Jr. of Detroit, and Clinton Alan Babbitt of Salem, Indiana; two daughters, Melissa Mai Babbitt of New Albany, Indiana, and Sheryl Lyn Behr of Madison; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation with no services was chosen.

Henry Finney

Henry Martin Finney, 21, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, June 14, 2019, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital Emergency Room in Madison from injuries sustained in a head-on collision on 421 North. Arrangements will be announced by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.

Betty Fix

Betty Sue Alderson Fix, 79, of Hanover died Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Hanover Health and Rehab.

She was born July 7, 1939, in Paducah, Kentucky, to Joseph V. and Agnes Self Alderson. She attended the Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri, and retired after being a nurse after 45 years. She enjoyed riding horses and loved gardening, especially working with her roses.

She is survived by one daughter, Robin J. Sloane of Milton, Kentucky; one son, James V. Fix of Stevensville, Montana; two sisters, Mary Jo Sturm of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Judy Schenker of Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Peggy Adams.

At her request, there will be no services.
