Ryan Hostetler

Ryan Hostetler, 30, of North Vernon, Indiana near Dupont, Indiana, died Saturday, May 23, 2020, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1989, in Osage Beach, Missouri, to Earl and Alta Kropf Hostetler. He moved to Indiana in 1990 with his family and had attended school at Anderson and E.O. Muncie Elementaries and Jennings County. He loved to be called “Cowboy Ryan” by his family and friends and would spend hours with a rope in his hand, a cowboy hat on his head and roping a dummy or anyone else who happened to walk by. He loved Jesus, his family, his dog, Rusty, his many friends, and his country cowboy way of life and enjoyed going out to eat, connecting with friends over social media, a cold bottle of root beer, or a Madison Mayhem (heartache medication).

Survivors include his mother, Alta Kropf Hostetler of rural Dupont; his brothers, Rick Hostetler of rural Dupont, Randy Hostetler of Commiskey, Indiana, Chris Hostetler of Dupont, Indiana and Craig Hostetler of Madison, Indiana; his sisters, Starla Hostetler Zook of Alliance, Ohio and Sharlyn Hostetler Hershberger of Abbeville, South Carolina; and 21 nieces and nephews, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents, William H. Hostetler and Lydia C. Troyer Hostetler; his maternal grandparents, Daniel Kropf and Edna Kropf; and a niece, Sierra Zook.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at the Madison Consolidated High School Gymnasium in Madison. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont. Friends and family will begin seating at noon on Friday at the gymnasium. Friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the gymnasium. Covid-19 pandemic crowd and social distancing restrictions will be followed.
