Elisha Ellsworth “E.E.” Lowry, 77, of Madison, Indiana, died Sunday, May 24, 2020, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, after a brief illness,

He was born on Dec, 30, 1942, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to Lowell L. Lowry Sr. and Hazel M. Sandlin Lowry. He attended Alpha Baptist Church near Deputy, Indiana. After graduating from Scottsburg High School in 1961 he served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964-1970. A lifelong resident of southern Indiana, he lived in Madison for 44 years, was employed by the Indiana Kentucky Electric Company there for many years and was active in his community. He was an Indiana Freemason since 1973, held membership with the Schmidlap Lodge No. 408 in Kent, Indiana, was a 30-year member of The American Legion, a 29-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Scott County Lodge 2324, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the NRA. He enjoyed attending and watching NASCAR, playing golf, spending time with friends and family, collecting guns, coins and cars and attending car shows talking about cars and working on cars.

Survivors include his daughter, Phoebe Elisa Lowry James of Madison; a brother, Lowell L. Lowry of Scottsburg; a sister, Patsy Walker of Indianapolis; and two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

No funeral services will be held. A celebration of life and a Big E’s Garage benefit will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2020, at Red Bicycle Hall in Madison.
