Edwin Goebel

Edwin H. “George” Goebel, 83, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and formerly of Madison, Indiana, died May 5, 2020.

He was born June 6, 1936, in Madison, to Eva and William Goebel. He spent his early years in Madison until he joined the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He worked and retired from Coltec Industries, Fairbanks Morse Engine Division.

Survivors include his son, William Goebel; his daughters, Chelley Merrell and Carla Goetz; his siblings, Ann Ison, James Goebel and David Goebel; and four granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly Goebel; and a brother, Paul Goebel.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Donald McDaniels

Donald Lee “Don” McDaniels, 86, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at his home in downtown Madison.

He was born April 7, 1934, in Madison, to Raymond Childs and Nellie Jane Lazenby McDaniels. He graduated from Madison High School in 1951 and was inducted into the U.S. Air Force on April 27, 1951 in Indianapolis. He served during the Korean War and rose to the rate of Airman First Class in the 3505th Service Squadron at Greenville Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 24, 1953, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He returned home, graduated from high school and resided in Houston for 10 years working for Murray Guards and Morrows. He had worked as a bartender as well and enjoyed his time working at the Bottle Shop. He attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in downtown Madison and enjoyed reading scriptures and studying the Bible. He liked to ride his bike around town and socialize with friends and was a patriotic man proud to display the American Flag.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Raymond McDaniels Jr. in 1926, Joseph Dale McDaniels in 1932, Franklin Thomas McDaniels in 1940, Jack McDaniels in 2017 and William Paul McDaniels; and his sister, Nancy Edrington in 2009.

Funeral services will be noon on Monday, May 11, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will be private at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. A final salute will be conducted by Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion with full military honors to follow.

Donna McLarnan

Donna Sue Scroggin McLarnan, formerly of Dupont, Indiana, died April 30, 2020 in Florida.

She was born to Wallace and Leota Scroggin, and lived most of her life in the Dupont area before moving to Florida to be near her sisters.

She is survived by a son, Michael Dicken of Columbus, Indiana; a daughter, Shannon Manigualt of Yuma, Arizona; four sisters, Janice Conley and Cathy Stanley of Bunnell, Florida, Deborah Righthouse of Dupont and Pam Mountcastle of Daytona Beach, Florida; two brothers Larry Scroggin of Commiskey, Indiana and Ronald Scroggin of Dupont; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
