Garry Wayne Forwood

Garry Wayne Forwood, 72, of Rising Sun, Indiana, and formerly of Vevay, Indiana, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 at his residence in Rising Sun.

He was born Oct. 25, 1947, in Madison, Indiana, to Harold Edwin and Leo Margaret Osborn Forwood. He grew up in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he was a 1965 graduate of Vevay High School and graduated in 1975 from the police academy. He was employed as a police officer for the Town of Vevay from 1969 to 1974, as a deputy sheriff for Switzerland County from 1974 to 1977 and was later sheriff from 1977 to 1983. He was the community manager for the Sun Community Manufactured Homes in Merritt Island, Florida, and a former member of the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield, Indiana. He enjoyed farming and helping his son, Tim, on the farm and driving tractors.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Janet Sue Adam Forwood; a daughter, Debra Weir of Commiskey, Indiana; a son, Charles Timothy “Tim” White of Aurora, Indiana; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a nephew, a niece, a great-nephew and a great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery there.

Joyce Sanders

Joyce Jackson Sanders, 70, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

She was born May 17, 1949, in Louisville, to Emmett Graham Jackson and Edith Bennett Jackson. She was a housewife and had attended Carrollton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Angila Sanders Tomlinson of Georgetown, Kentucky; a son, John Frank Sanders III of Lanesville, Indiana; her step-mother; Marilyn Jackson of Madison, Indiana; a brother, Robert Lee Jackson of Madison; two step-brothers, Herman and Mike Keeton, both of Madison, and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Frank “Sonny” Sanders, and a brother, Lou Gehrig Jackson.

Cremation was chosen by the family with services at a later date. Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.
