John Asher Barnes, 14 days old, infant son of Ryan and Ashley Barnes of Madison, died Monday, Nov. 19 at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Arrangements are pending at Morgan-Nay Funeral Centre, Madison.

Dave Bryan

David Lee “Dave” Bryan, 69, of Madison, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at 6:35 a.m. at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover, Indiana.

He was born Dec. 11, 1948, in Springfield, Illinois, to Joe and Lola Vorderbruegge Bryan. He was a 1961 graduate of South High School in Bakersfield, California. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was inducted on June 19, 1967 in Fresno, California. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 15, 1964 at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. He received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He married Charlene in 1998 in Bakersfield, California, and she passed away in 2003. He worked as an equipment operator for 30 years and in the oil fields. He moved to Madison to be near his daughters.

He is survived by two sons, Matt Bryan and Anthony Bryan, both of Bakersfield, California; two daughters, Kristen Bryan Reece and Stefanie Bryan, both of Madison; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his wife, Charlene Bryan.

His family will conduct private services with interment in California.

Ruth Suter

Ruth Tilley Suter, 83, of Pompano Beach, Florida, and formerly of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 at North Broward Health in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

She was born Sept. 18, 1935, in Carroll County, Kentucky, to Noble and Pauline Kopp Tilley Blankenship. She worked with the Carroll County School System while living in Carrollton and was active in Girl Scout Leadership. In 1972, she and her family moved to Pompano Beach where she worked as an X-ray technician and later as office manager for a CPA firm until she retired in 1992.

She is survived by three daughters, Debby (Bob) Cain of Pompano Beach, Vickie Edwards of Milton, Kentucky and Deanie Forthofer of Glastonbury, Connecticut; four sisters, Doris Fox and Carolyn Welch, both of Jupiter, Florida, Mary Frances Mefford of Carrollton, and Phyllis Perry of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and one brother, Frank Tilley of Carrollton, six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and was awaiting the arrival of two more, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph D. Tilley, and by her first husband, Ray Fred Rodgers in 1956 and her second husband, Hollie Suter in 1991.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Kentucky with services to follow at 4:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kosair Charities at or in care of the funeral home.

Donald Vaughn

Donald Joseph Vaughn, 84, of Madison died Tuesday, Nov. 20, at River Terrace Health Campus. He served as mayor of Madison from 1966 to 1971.
