Carol Chasteen

Carol H. “Dolly” Chasteen, 76, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.

She was born Dec. 12, 1942, in Gary, Indiana, to Leslie and Beatrice (Moseley) Humphreys. She had lived in Apopka, Florida, from 1985 until 2012 when she moved to Madison to be closer to her daughter. She retired from AT&T Inc. where she was a senior systems consultant.

She was a master gardener, loved animals, and was very generous with several charities. In Madison, she was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Zeta Xi Chapter and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had a love for traveling the world and was especially fond of her trips to Iceland and New Zealand.

Survivors include her daughter, Beatriss Collins of Madison; her grandchildren: Christina Goodwin, James Goodwin, Brian Collins, and Scott Collins; and one great grandson, James Goodwin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father Lynnwood Hicks, and her daughter, Sandra Chasteen in 2018.

The Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Zeta Xi Chapter will conduct services at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison’s hilltop. Friends and family may call at funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Monday.

Marian Thorpe

Marian A. Thorpe, 82, of Greensburg, Indiana, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 in Williamsburg, Virginia.

She was born on July 29, 1937 in Greensburg, to Walter and Alice Boyce. She married John B. Thorpe on Feb. 28, 1954 in Indiana and was a lifelong resident of Adams. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Diane Wyant of Yorktown, Virginia and Brenda Kay Thorpe of San Diego, California; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983, and sons John A. Thorpe and Robert W. Thorpe
