Bernetta “Sue” Finch Berry, 81, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. Arrangements will be announced by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.



Mildred Jackson

Mildred Ruth Demaree Jackson, 98, of Madison, Indiana, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at her home.

She was born March 7, 1921, in Rexville, Indiana, to Elmer and Myrtle Boswell Demaree. She grew up on the family farm and was a 1940 graduate of New Marion High School. She had lived in Madison since 1954. She grew up in the West Fork Baptist Church, and, after moving to Madison, attended Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, canning, gardening, playing cards, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. After the death of her husband and as her health declined, she became a resident at Jewel Place and was lovingly cared for by the staff there.

She is survived by one son, James Darrell Jackson of Madison; one daughter, Carolyn Jackson of Brandon, Florida; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one sister, Lillian Beryl Hartman of Centerville, Ohio, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harold Melvin “Hickory” Jackson; her parents, six brothers, Virgil Elmer Demaree, Lester Leroy Demaree, Charles Walter Demaree, Raymond Demaree, Jesse Lloyd Demaree, Neill “Whitey” Demaree, and three sisters, Florence Virginia Laswell, Gladys Cook and Evelyn P. Demaree.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at 1 p.m., at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Judith Bennett

Judith Elaine “Judi” Sullivan Bennett, 69, of Madison, Indiana, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.

She was born July 20, 1950, in Madison, to Robert William and Betty JoAnn Richmond Sullivan. She lived her early life in Madison before the family moved to Weston, West Virginia, where she graduated from high school. She later lived in Huntington, West Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia, and Weston, West Virginia, as they moved with the employment of her husband, Raymond Marshall Bennett. She settled back in Madison in 1995 and retired from Grote Industries after 17 years as an assembler. She was a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion Auxiliary and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading books, playing games on her computer and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Douglas R. Bennett of Salem, Virginia; one daughter, Delesa “Dee Dee” Bennett Maddox of Madison; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, William Keith Sullivan and Mark Sullivan of Madison, Robert Sullivan of Hanover, Indiana, and Richard Lane Sullivan of Louisville; the father of her children, Raymond Marshall Bennett of Weston, Virginia, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at 7 p.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
