Elizabeth Ann Falconberry Burleson DeCarlo, 90, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.

She was born May 1, 1929, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Joe and Martha Ann Sawyers Hays Sparkman and grew up among seven brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. She was first married to Roy Falconberry, then to William Berry Burleson Sr., and after that to Joseph DeCarlo. She was a top stitcher for 20 years at the Madison Shoe Factory, retiring in 1972. Holidays were always spent together, socializing over a large family meal that was thoughtfully prepared. She was a master gardener with the most beautiful roses. All of her work over the years as a top stitcher made her a wonderful seamstress. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had attended First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph DeCarlo; five children, Melvin Falconberry of Columbus, Indiana, Tina Irene Long of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Marshall Falconberry, William Berry Burleson, and Martha Ann Denton, all of Madison; four step-children, Debbie Matassa of Texas, Yvonne Roak of Illinois, Bruce DeCarlo of California and Phillip DeCarlo of Arizona; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Margie Falconberry; seven brothers, Bill Hays, Fred Hays, Thomas Sparkman, Joe Sparkman, Luther Sparkman, Elijah Sparkman and Billy Ray Sparkman; and three sisters, Lucy Beasley, Melvina Sparkman and Marie Moore.
