Roger Brotz

Roger Alan Brotz, 68, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Burlington, Vermont, to John Harper Brotz and Dorothy Moorehouse Brotz. He was a 1970 graduate of Champlain Valley Union High School, attended Purdue University from 1979-1984 studying engineering and was an Eagle Scout and active in 4-H. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a retired packaging engineer for International Paper, a school bus driver for the Carroll County School System for six years and a deacon at Carrollton Christian Church. He enjoyed dogs, gardening, boating and camping.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jonee Kinner Brotz; two sisters, Nancy Harding of Prospect, Kentucky and Dona Norton of Starksboro, Vermont; and a brother, Jon Brotz of Show Low, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation is 5 p.m. until time of services Tuesday. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are both required for attendance and the funeral home will be limited to 50% of normal capacity.

Gwen Sprong-Vaughn 

Mary "Gwen" Gwendolyn Tullis Sprong-Vaughn, 71, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at her home in Madison. 

She was born Jan. 17, 1948, in Madison, to Lyman F. and Noel M. Carter Tullis. She graduated from Madison High School in 1966 and married Kerry Edwin Sprong on Aug. 23, 1966. She retired from Kroger in Madison after working 47 and a half years and had attended the First Baptist Church in Madison and Kent Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, watching television, shopping and going out to eat. She resided for many years on Thompson Road near Kent before moving to Madison.

Survivors include a brother, John Charles Tullis of Madison and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 24 years on Jan. 14, 1990; her sister, Carmethia "Ann" May, in 2014; and twin brothers, Oscar M. Tullis in 1951 and Lyman W. Tullis in 1955. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow in the Kent Cemetery in Kent, Indiana. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
