Dennis Gladieux

Dennis Michael Gladieux, 81, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.

He was born July 19, 1938, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Ernest “Mike” and Rosalie M. Sheets Gladieux. He grew up in Fort Wayne and was a 1957 graduate of Central High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy April 29, 1957, in Indianapolis and rose to the rate of Draftsman Petty Officer Second Class. He served at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Sanford, Florida, with the Heavy Attack Squadron Three. He was honorably discharged March 9, 1961, and received the Good Conduct Medal. He remained in the Reserves until Dec. 7, 1962. He worked for 30 years with Navistar Engineering in Fort Wayne, Indiana, retiring as a project manager. He then worked for five years with Warsaw Coil in Warsaw, Indiana, and five years with Flint and Walling Pump Company in Kendallville, Indiana. He and his wife began an embroidery company they named Shepherds’ Threads and operated out of their home until his death. He enjoyed designing, especially embroidery designing and was proud of his two U.S. Patents. He was an avid reader, enjoyed computer design and tinkering on just about anything. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Madison.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol E. Greer Whan Gladieux of Madison; three children, Susan Whan Cseri, Becky Chantelois and David Whan, all of Fort Wayne, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church.

Military honors will be at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion and the U.S. Naval Ceremonial Unit.

Ruthie Lockridge, 72, of Madison, Indiana, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 at the Marion General Hospital in Marion, Indiana. Arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.
