Nellie Smith

Nellie Aldean Aldridge Smith, 92, of Bedford, Kentucky, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Signature Health Care in Bedford.

She was born March 5, 1927, to Perry and Ethel Colston Aldridge in Hanover, Indiana. She was a long-standing member of the Poplar Ridge Baptist Church and spent her life taking care of and tending to her family and its farm, working in tobacco, gardening, canning and cooking wonderful meals as she delighted in gathering family and friends together around her table. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Smith of Bedford and Dannie Smith of Hanover, Indiana; one daughter, Brenda Wentworth of Bedford; a brother, Guy Aldridge of Sanders, Kentucky; a sister, Ethel Lee Lynn of New Castle, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boyd Russell Smith; one daughter, Linda Bell; one son, Boyd Russell Smith Jr.; three brothers, Leslie Aldridge, Alvin Aldridge and Charlie Aldridge, and four sisters, Mattie Smith, Molly Eversole, Janie Lombardi and Bertie Lake.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford with burial in Bedford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Faye Stewart

Faye Whitham Stewart, 71, of Milton, Kentucky, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at the Signature Health Care of Trimble County in Bedford, Kentucky.

She was born May 7, 1948, in Madison, Indiana, to Don Roland “Bunny” and Grace Geisler Whitham. She was a 1966 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. She worked at several secretarial positions in addition to 27 years at Hanover College as administrative assistant to former President John Horner. She was an avid reader and loved sitting on the jetties in Florida reading. She was a big fan of UK basketball and the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed shopping and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Michael G. Stewart Sr.; one son Michael G. Stewart Jr. of Lexington, Indiana; one daughter, Michelle White of Bedford, Kentucky; one sister, Judy Luckett of Milton; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with interment in the Stewart Family Farm Cemetery in Milton.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.
