Billy Hughes

Billy Hughes, 81, of Madison, Indiana and formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.

He was born Nov. 20 , 1938, to Stanley B. and Elizabeth Walston Hughes. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1956 graduate of Vevay High School. He married Virginia Ann Brown on June 4, 1960, and they had a son and a daughter. He worked for and retired from Jay C Food Store and Kroger in Madison, Indiana. He enjoyed art and was good at it.

Survivors include a son, Chris Hughes of Bloomington, Indiana; a daughter, Kim Roach of Seymour, Indiana; a brother, Daniel Hughes of Nashville, Indiana; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James A. Hughes, in 1970; and a sister, Pauline Branham, in 1997.

Burial will be in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay, Indiana.

James Miller

James Allen Miller, 78, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at the Norton’s Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.

Be was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Columbia, Missouri, to Virgil Davis Miller and Martha Fannie Williams Miller. He retired from Nucor Steel in May 2015 as an equipment operator after having retired in 1994 from Brown & Root Construction Company. He had also served in the US Army National Guard.

Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Surratt of Milton, Kentucky and Gloria Belcher of Carrollton; a son, Chris Miller of Carrollton; and five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Minnie Rose Kidd Mille, in May 2015; an infant sister, Gloria Miller; and a brother, Verlin Miller.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Pass through visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, funderal home building occupancy will be limited to 50% normal capacity and social distancing requirements and face masks will be required.
