Robert Griffin

Robert Wayne Griffin, 49, of Madison, Indiana, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at his home, ending a seven year battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 25, 1970, in Louisville, to Roger and Marilyn Eyhorn Griffin. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County, Indiana, was a 1989 graduate of Southwestern High School and married Marylee “Shamaine” Cloat on Jan. 29, 1994. He was employed as engineer for the Madison Railroad for more than 20 years, held membership in the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765 and enjoyed playing poker, throwing darts, riding his motorcycle, playing corn hole, tattoos, socializing with his friends and taking trips to Las Vegas and the beach when possible.

Survivors include his parents; his wife of 26 years; his brother, Matt Griffin of Indianapolis; his grandmother, Gladys Eyhorn of Austin, Texas; and several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and other family.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lizzie Hampton Griffin Morrisonl and his grandfathers, Albert Eyhorn and John Griffin.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Theola Hunter

Theola Inez Hunter, 88, of Columbus, Indiana, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at the Four Seasons Retirement Center there.

She was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Vernon, Indiana, to William and Clarice Pettiford Brewer. She graduated from Jennings County High School and married Wilbur Hunter on Feb. 18, 1950 and they raised two daughters and two sons. She retired from Cummins as a financial clerk who corrected payroll check errors. After retirement, she took care of her family and traveled and enjoyed sewing, knitting, sports, television game shows and family cruises. She was a longtime member of the Jehovah Witnesses.

Survivors include her four children, Brenda Pitts, Kenny Hunter and Mark Hunter, all of Columbus and Darlene Hunter Foreman, of Indianapolis; and seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings, William Norman Brewer, Lovetta Brewer Harper, Oneita Brewer Smith, Myrna Brewer Staten, Nadine Brewer Litzy, Olga Brewer Bush, Kenneth Brewer and Ralph Brewer; and a grandson.

A virtual memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, followed by interment at Carmel Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana. For virtual service information, contact Brenda Pitts.

Carolyn McNeill

Carolyn McNeill, 76, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1943, in Hope, Indiana, to Ralph Harold Kelley and Ruth Elizabeth Stanley Kelley. She had retired as a hairdresser for the Cutting Edge in Carrollton after 34 years. She loved to raise flowers in her garden, spend time with her children and in her younger years she loved to water ski. She had attended Valley Christian Church in Carrollton.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Thomas McNeill of Carrollton; a daughter, Carmen Rae Williams of Warsaw, Kentucky; two sons, Stacey Walker and Jeff Walker, both of Carrollton; two stepdaughters, Sara McNeill of Swan Station, North Carolina and Stephanie Bonoit of Ethel, Louisiana; and six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joyce Ball; and a brother, Richard Lee Kelley.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visitation is from 4 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and reopening requirements, funeral home occupancy will be limited to 50% of normal capacity. Social distancing and face masks will be required.
