Here's a reminder to not miss the performance of Handel's "Messiah."

Sunday's performance will help to usher in the Christmas season.

The "Messiah" is an event you won't want to pass up. The Madison-Ohio Valley Community Chorus and Hanover College Concert Choir, accompanied by the Festival Orchestra, have been rehearsing for the performance, now in its 40th year.

The music begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fitzgibbon Recital Hall in the Lynn Center for Fine Arts on the Hanover College campus. It is expected to last about an hour. Admission is $7.

Tickets may be purchased from Community Chorus members or at the door.

The Messiah is a community event. People of all ages and skill levels help make the performance a highlight of the holiday season. Madlen Batchvarova, Hanover College associate professor of music and director of choral programs, will direct the production.

Batchvarova, an accomplished teacher and musician, provides outstanding direction for participants. Few communities are as fortunate as ours to have talented people willing to give their time to such an effort.

If you're looking for another way to enhance your holiday season, attend the performance. You'll be happy you did.
