Pilot Club

Pilot Club of Madison held their monthly meeting April 11 with a presentation outlining the tasks, time frames and regulations required to coordinate "Old Court Days" events. The regular business meeting began with Elsie Perry-Payne's reading of Pilot Club's Code of Ethics. Business conducted included Pilot Club's partnership with the Madison Area Bicycle Club (MABC) in the upcoming "Bicycle Rodeo". The rodeo will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 11 on Madison's Riverfront, across from the Lamplighter Park Gazebo on Vaughn Drive. Planned activities include a bicycle safety seminar, an obstacle course with safety brochure, tips on basic bicycle repairs and refreshments. Participants will be registered to win bicycle helmets.

The meeting ended with "Derby Party" festivities. The Pilot Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Senior Citizen Center.

Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council

The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council met April 4 at the Jefferson County Public Library Madison Branch with nine members present. President Lisa Kramer opened the meeting. Dorothy Canada gave the secretary's report. Ruth Kramer gave the treasurer's report. Janet McMahan gave a quilt report on the Bits & Pieces Quilt Show, which was set for April 13-14 at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. Quilt meetings were scheduled for April 16, May 7 and May 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Hanover Baptist Church. Anyone is welcome to attend. The Madison District Spring Lesson Bazaar will be held May 14 at the Jennings County Public Library. Reservations should be made by April 23 to Ruth Kramer. The council's next meeting will be held at 9:15 a.m. May 2 at the library.
