Sunshine Homemakers

The Sunshine Homemakers met June 11, 2013 at Hanover Baptist Church. President Dorothy Morgan opened the meeting with the Extension Homemakers Club Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance. The club sang, "I'm Looking Over A Four-Leaf Clover." Morgan gave a devotion from "Mornings with Jesus" on Psalms 5:3 and Hebrews 13:8. Members answered their roll call with their plans for the Jefferson County 4-H Fair Open Class. Marie Black gave the secretary's report. Morgan gave the treasurer's report for Barbara Wykoff, who was absent. The club voted to donate food to Hanover Baptist Church in memory of Alma Spillman. The club elected officers: Dorothy Morgan, president; Sandi Koehler, vice president; Marie Black, secretary; and Barbara Wykoff, treasurer. Members were reminded about quilt committee meetings held at 9:15 a.m. June 18, July 2 and July 16 at Hanover Baptist Church. They also discussed the John Deere and blue jean quilt they are making to raffle for the scholarship fund. The lesson, "Fix It and Forget It" was distributed to members. The quote of the month was from Oliver Wendell Holmes, "People do not quit playing because they grow old. They grow old because they quit playing." The thought for the month was, "An old-timer is someone who remembers every detail of their life story, but cannot remember how many times they have told the same person. The club's next meeting will be July 8 at 2 p.m. at the church.
