Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of the Canyon River Band. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per person.

Friday Crafts: Will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.

Artist Reception: Will be held at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library for the photography exhibit of Norma Birchfield. Live music will be provided by Vanessa Birchfield.

February 23

Pajama Party: Trimble County Public Library will host a pajama party starting at 9:30 a.m. with stories and fun. The program is designed for children from preschool to second grade, and their families.

Bluebird Nest Box Workshop: Clifty Falls State Park will host a bluebird nest box workshop at 10:30 a.m. at Clifty Inn. The program is suitable for families. Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Fees of $2 per person ages 5 and older, and $10 per kid will be due. There will not be a park gate fee. Space is limited. River's Bend Writers Group: The newly formed community of writers will meet at 1:30 p.m. to read each other's work and provide respectful feedback. The meetings are held at the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison.

Barbeque Chicken Fundraiser: The Madison Blades Fencing Club's barbeque chicken and beverages fundraiser will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Thomas Family Winery. The all-you-can-eat meal is $20. A Taste of Soul: The Human Rights Commission will host "A Taste of Soul" at 2 p.m. at the AME Church. Enjoy a free sampling of various freshly prepared soul food. Sue Livers will take about soul food in African American culture and there will also be a short presentation on the role of the Underground Railroad in the Madison area.

Jefferson County Movie Club: Will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Public Library Madison Branch. The group will discuss "Thunderheart," which stars Val Kilmer, Sam Shepard, Graham Greene and Shiela Tousey. The meeting will include free popcorn.

Lexington Historical Society: Will feature Hanover College's Dr. Larry DeBuhr speaking on the Eleutherian College and efforts to preserve the 1840s school at 7 p.m. at Lexington Christian Church. The building is accessible. All are welcome.

Veterans Benefits Representative: A veterans benefits field representative from the Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs will be at the Veterans Affairs Health Clinic in Carrollton, Ky. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The representative will be available to assist veterans and widows/widowers for free in filing for federal and state benefits for veterans and dependents.
