Young Writers Workshop: This creative writing workshop will be guided by Dominique Battles from Hanover College. The workshop starts Jan. 8 through Feb. 26 at the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison. Official meeting time is on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. This program is for children in 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Slitherin’ Snakes: Find out where snakes go during the winter and discover more cool facts during this 45-minute program at 11 a.m. at the Clifty Falls Nature Center. Knitting 101: This introduction to knitting class is for beginners who always wanted to learn how to knit. This will meet from 5 pm. to 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Public Library in Hanover. Instructor Pan Sinsel will teach the foundation skills: how to read a basic pattern, three different “cast on” methods, the purl stitch, how to “bind off” when finished and students will learn about equipment needed to knit. Students need to purchase size 7 or 8 straight knitting needles. The library will provide the yarn. Registration is required. Oil Painting Class: This is a comprehensive series of 10 classes that will meet on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison.
