Young Writers Workshop: This creative writing workshop will be guided by Dominique Battles from Hanover College. The workshop runs from Jan. 8 through Feb. 26 at the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison. Official meeting time is on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. This program is for children in 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Celebrate National Seed Swap Day: Bring your extra seeds to share with other participants from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison. Seeds should be clean, free of mold, labled and not older than 3 years. Master Gardeners will be avaliable to answer questions about seeds and plants. Educational material will also be available.

Knitting 101: This introduction to knitting class is for beginners who always wanted to learn how to knit. This will meet from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Public Library in Hanover. Instructor Pam Sinsel will teach the foundation skills: how to read a basic patterns, three different “cast on” methods, the purl stitch, how to “bind off” when finished and students will learn about equipment needed to knit. Students need to purchase size 7 or 8 straight knitting needles. The library will provide the yarn. Registration is required. These classes will cover method and technique while focusing on a particular project each week. Each student will need to purchase materials for the class.
