Regatta: The Madison Regatta will be held July 5-7 in downtown Madison. Regatta weekend and the week leading up to the event feature pageants, a bed race, a waterball fight, The Madison Courier 10K Firecracker Walk/Run, a street dance, music on the river, a car show, R/C boat racing and the annual parade. Air Shows by aerobatic pilot Brett Hunter over the Ohio River will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday as well as 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Sunday and 3:50 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. Sunday. Jefferson County 4-H Fair: Will be held July 8-15 at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. Poor Jack Amusements will be open daily from 6 to 11 p.m., with Kiddie Day Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. The commercial buildings are open from 6 to 9:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $2 per car or walk-in.

Summer Theatre Workshop: The Madison Community Players will present their annual summer theater workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. July 22 to Aug. 2 at the Brown Gym. The program is open to everyone in third grade or older. Tuition is $25. The student performance will be Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. For more information call (812) 493-3357.

Senior Citizens: The Madison Senior Center, 208 W. Main St., hosts activities during the week including euchre at noon on Monday and Thursday, and bingo at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. July 5

Fish Fry: The Western Fire Company No. 3 will host their annual fish fry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 815 W. Main St. with fish, fries and barbeque.

Red Hatters of Madison: Will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the 88 King Buffet, 439 E. Clifty Drive. The location was changed from The Pines. All Red Hatters, guests and prospective members are invited. For more information call (812) 265-4433.

Court Street Cinemas: Will show "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" at 2 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library

Red, White and Blues: Vevay will celebrate the July Fourth holiday as part of their First Friday event July 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. Live music will be performed at locations throughout Vevay and the Switzerland County Visitors Center will open a display of Martha Bladen's reuse creations. The visitors center will also have face painting from 6 to 9 p.m. Carriage rides will be available throughout the area, weather permitting.

Carrollton's Hottest Dog: Carrollton's First Friday will feature the rescheduled RaceFest Soap Box Derby July 5 with registration starting at 6 p.m. and the races beginning at 7 p.m. on Fourth Street near the Jefferson Community and Technical College Parking lot. The event will also feature the fourth annual hot dog cook-off and other activities. An opening art reception will also be held at the Carroll County Public Library for Jimmy Supplee

River Valley Financial Bank Madison Regatta Parade: Will begin at 7 p.m. on Madison's Main Street. Former NFL running back Ickey Woods, a member of the Cincinnati Bengals' Super Bowl XXIII team, will serve as grand marshal.

WIKI Texaco Country Showdown: Will be held from 7 to 11:15 p.m. at Fireman's Park on the riverfront. Admission: A nightly Madison Regatta Festival Support Button at a cost of $5 per night or a $25 Madison Regatta Wristband. Children 10 and under admitted free of charge.

Senior Dance: Will not be held during Regatta weekend. The next dance will be July 12 and will feature Tommy Day & Cool Country.

July 6

Pancake Breakfast: The Hanover Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons 652 will host a pancake, waffle, egg, sausage and bacon breakfast from 6 to 10:30 a.m. at 240 W. Main St., Hanover. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Madison Courier Firecracker 10K Walk/Run: Will being at 8 a.m. and begin at the Madison Consolidated High School and end at Lytle Park. The starting time for the run portion of the event has been moved up to 8 a.m. this year and will start at the same time as the walk. Registration taken until 7:45 a.m. on race day. The cost is $15 for walkers and $25 for runners.

Tractor/Lawn and Garden Operator Contest: Will begin at 8 a.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Madison Regatta Volleyball Classic: Will be held on the riverfront at the corner of Vernon St. and Vaughn Drive beginning at 8:30 a.m. The inaugural event will feature local volleyball teams vying for the chance to be crowned Madison Regatta champs. Action will take place throughout the day.

Point Park Fourth of July Celebration: Carrollton's Point Park all-day free family celebration with a fireworks display after dark, inflatable moon walk for children, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, a flea market and a car show from the Kentucky Kruizers featuring classic and customized vehicles was rescheduled from July 4. Live music will feature T. G. Shepard and Kelly Lang at 8 p.m.

Poultry and Other Fowl Show: Will begin at 10 a.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Teen Game Day: Will be held at the Carroll County Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m.

Red Cross Blood Drive: Will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. For more information or to schedule an appointment visit www.redcrossblood.org.

Dog Obedience Show: Will begin at 3 p.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

WORX/WXGO Music on the Riverfront: Will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight at Fireman's Park on the riverfront featuring Darryl Hewitt and Friends from 7:15 to 8 p.m., Chris Jesse and the Instigators from 8:30 to 10 p.m. and Howard, Lewis and Lovins from 10:30 p.m. to midnight. Admission: A Madison Regatta Wristband will be required until racing closes.

Regatta Fireworks Spectacular: Will begin at approximately 10 p.m. on Madison's riverfront. Live music before and after the fireworks. Admission is free and open to the public and the event is rain or shine.

Fireworks: Versailles State Park will host fireworks around 10 p.m. at Versailles Lake. Admission to the park will be free from 8 to 10 p.m., but donations will be accepted at the front gate and campground gate.

Senior Dance: The Lide White Boys and Girls Club will not host a senior dance this Saturday. It is canceled due to the Regatta. For more information call (812) 599-0848 or (812) 274-0338.

July 7

Horse Show: English and Contesting will begin at 1 p.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Dog Agility Show: Will begin at 6: 30 p.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Vespers: Will be held by Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. in the pavilion at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

July 8

Moving for Better Health: The free senior exercise class will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays at the Brown Gym. For more information call (812) 273-1072.

Rabbit Show: Will begin at 10 a.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Family Film Series: The Ohio Theatre will offer free showings of "Here Comes the Boom" at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Goat Show: Will begin at 5 p.m. at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Jefferson County Republican Women: Will not meet at 6 p.m. They will gather at the Republican Party booth at the Jefferson County 4-H Fair.

Horse Pull: Will begin at 7 p.m. in the grandstand at the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. Admission is $5 for adults, free for children age 10 and younger.
