Mama Won't Fly: The Madison Community Players will present the Jones Hope Wooten comedy "Mama Won't Fly," May 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and May 10 at 2:30 p.m. in Red Bicycle Hall, 125 E. Main St. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students.

Steel Magnolias: The Port William Players will present "Steel Magnolias" at The English Schoolhouse at 7 p.m. May 9 and 10. Tickets are $12. A Mother's Day performance will be held May 11 at 1 p.m. and will include a luncheon. Tickets for the Sunday performance are $30.

Free Admission to Local Historical Sites: Residents can visit The Sullivan House and Dr. Hutchings' Office from 1 to 4:30 p.m., Lanier Mansion from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with tours on the hour, and The History Center from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All with free admission. 

Carroll County Community Development Corporation Board: Will meet at noon at the General Butler State Resort Park Lodge in the River Room.

Senior Dance: Will be held Friday by the Madison Parks Department at the Brown Gym featuring the music of Tommy Day & Cool Country. The doors open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per person.

No More Cutting: A support group for girls from junior high to college who struggle with depression, fear, anxiety and suicidal thoughts will meet every Friday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1429 Clifty Drive, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The group is spiritually-based and non-denominational. The Knoble - A Group Exhibition of Artists in Our Own Backyard: Will feature five regional artists, Devon Kondaki, Kimberly Luther, Kendal Miller, Robbie Mueller and Larry Rudolech, in Hanover College's Greiner Art Gallery. The Art of Healing: Twenty-two pieces by 17 local artists were chosen to bring artwork to the walls of King's Daughters' Hospital from April 6 to June 28. MCHS Class of 1969 Reunion Committee Meeting: The Madison Consolidated, Shawe and Southwestern class of 1969 committee will meet to discuss the upcoming reunion at 6 p.m. at Harry's Stone Grill.

Mary Ann Gentry Art Show: The Carroll County Public Library will host the annual Mary Ann Gentry Art Show during May. Artists of all ages and in a variety of mediums will be featured throughout the library. A reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with musical guests The Compass Quartet. How to be a House Detective: Take a walking tour with two experts who will discuss how to detect exterior house problems and how they can be addressed. Celebrate Southwestern: A public event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. with food, music, and kindergarten sign-ups on the front lawn at Southwestern. The first 400 kids get a free t-shirt.

Game Day: Will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.

Claude's Second Chance Benefit: A benefit event for Swine Flu survivor Claude Chance will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 2250 Lanier Drive. The doors open at 2 p.m. with a jam session. The event will also include raffles and a hog roast. The music will open at 4 p.m. with Jynx, followed by Sandy Picket and Chopper Johnson at 5 p.m., High Octane at 6 p.m., Chris Jesse and Jimmy Davis at 7 p.m., Young Country at 8 p.m., Jimmy Davis Band at 9 p.m. and Power Plant at 10 p.m. Admission is $10 for individuals, $15 per couple. Behind the Scenes Tour: Take a behind the scenes tour of the Lanier Mansion on the second Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors over 60 and $5 for children. The tours, which are limited to 15 people, include the basement, cupola, east wing and information not included on the standard tour. Reservations are required.
