Students in Katie Moderau’s eighth-grade history class at Southwestern Middle School presented their findings Sunday after months of researching the Smyrna-Monroe Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In a partnership with Historic Madison Inc. and the cemetery board of the church on Deputy Pike, students began work last fall mapping the cemetery and conducting genealogical studies on people buried there. The information will now be digitized and preserved for future generations.

This weekend the public was invited to view the students’ findings and learn more about local families through their live interpretations.
