Shawe Memorial Jr/Sr High School hosted a panel of professionals from Grote, Arvin Sango, Koehler Welding Supply Inc., Vehicle Service Group, DOW, PMC, Ivy Tech and Hanover Collegelast week for their annual STEM Roundtable. Shawe students presented on topics, projects and experiments they have been working on in different science, technology, engineering and math courses to the panel. Prince of Peace Schools President Phil Kahn told the panel they work with students on their knowledge of the courses and their soft skills, like confidence, for the presentations. Students presented on topics related to statistics, chemistry, biology, trigonometry and engineering. A short period for questions and discussion followed each presentation. Panel members told school administrators they were happy to see students learning and talking about problem-solving skills and learning to work as part of a team, saying these skills are important in the workforce.
